If any of you out there would like to see a VERY GOOD Fitness Evaluation…look no further.  Real Results Personal Trainer Denny Silva is in phenomenal condition.  His cardiovascular conditioning is through the roof.  Hopefully you won’t make fun of my horrible “chicken scratch” writing skills.  They have improved…I swear.

If you are a newcomer to this site or our services, one of our main goals with Real Results is to get our clients in outstanding cardiovascular condition.  Our style is not geared towards bodybuilding.  Now granted you would still do resistance training but that is not the “sole” objective.  We use circuit training during your sessions with one of our highly skilled Personal Trainers at most all locations of the Las Vegas Athletic Clubs.

The first step however, is that we need to see what kind of shape you are in right now.  To do so, you would undergo a “Cardiovascular Endurance Test” walking on the treadmill.  Also known as V02Max Testing.  From the results of the test you will be provided with a program meant to increase your levels of cardiovascular conditioning over time of which you would do on your own time.  Real Results Personal Trainer Denny Silva

The longer you last on the test, the better condition your in.  Denny lasted quite a long time.  More than most.

  • So here’s how the testing procedure works in a nutshell.

You would undergo the complete testing procedure every 8 weeks.  Testing is meant to put positive pressure on you to continue to advance.  Therefore, not allowing your self to slip into old comfort zones.  There are a series of tests as well.

  • Body Fat Percentage test to determine lean mass, fat mass and overall body fat percentage
  • Circumference Measurements
  • Push ups, Sit ups, Flexibility testing, Blood Pressure, Resting Heart Rate, Recovery Heart Rate, Core Strength, and Vo2Max.

Denny is quite strong as you can see.  59 pushups and 56 situps in a minute.

The most impressive statistic is his body fat percentage of 10.08.  That, is very low.  One of the main pieces of information that you would learn with us is that your body fat is directly connected to your cardiovascular endurance levels.  This is of paramount importance.  It is not enough to just “do cardio,”  you must continue to strive to harder and more demanding levels.  This is what ultimately makes his body fat so low.  He is in fantastic cardiovascular shape.

Another impressive stat is  Denny’s recovery time.  Which is how long it takes for his heart rate to return to the recovery heart rate of 119 beats per minute after he reached his maximum heart rate of 165.  Forty Five seconds!  Under a minute is outstanding.  Over 3 minutes is poor.

Too often, people focus solely on burning calories.  Yes a pound of fat consists of 3500 calories, and that takes time to work that off.  That is only one component.   If your conditioning levels are very high, you can burn the equivalent of 600 calories in 20 minutes rather than a full hour.  Your body becomes an “hot furnace” and uses large amounts of energy when your conditioning levels are as high as his.

  • This only happens one way people….by making exercise a part of your life on a day by day and week by week basis.  Just like Denny does for example….

Hello all, yes I am posting this quite late, but that is the nice thing about taking time off.  I am in Seal Beach, CA, the weather right now is a very pleasant 65 degrees…I am really suffering being away from the Vegas heat as you could imagine.  This post may include a few interesting tidbits of info.  Below is a day that a client submitted to me for review.  He is a male over the age of 40 and has lost 30 pounds since being working with Real Results Personal Fitness Trainer Chris Raznick at the 215 and West Flamingo LVAC.

Thursday August 27th:

Breakfast: @ 5:30 AM

  • Egg Whites with onions and broccoli
  • ½ Cup Oatmeal with cinnamon

Pre workout: @ 7:00 AM

  • Redline Energy drink… No carb

Snack: @ 10:00 AM (on the way home from gym)

  • South Beach Diet Protein bar

Snack: @ 11:00

  • Grilled Chicken

Lunch: @ 1:00 PM

  • Grilled Salmon
  • Spinach, Raw Cabbage, Cauliflower, and Broccoli. Topped with 1T Udos Oil

Bed: @ 2:30 PM

Protein=4

Starch=2

Vegetables=3

Fat=1

EXERCISE:

  • Weight Training (Leg Day) @ 1035 calories burned.
  • 30 minutes Elliptical Trainer @ Level 25, Average Speed 3.11 mph, 7429 ft. climbed @ 586 calories burned.
  • 30 minutes Treadmill @ Inclines 5-11%, Average speed 3.2 mph, 1.6 miles @ 475 calories burned.
  • Total calories burned = 2096

A few years ago I had let myself go and hated it!!!  I had ballooned to 213lbs on a 5’3″ frame. I was miserable.  I truly thought that there was a pretty good chance that I wouldn’t get myself back. I had started trying to get back into the gym on my own and was having trouble because I felt embarrassed. I almost felt like I was too out of shape to even be in there with “those people”. Those people of course being the people I wanted to be…in shape and in control of their health and lives.

A girlfriend of mine, who looks amazing and has worked out for years, told me that she had a trainer. Of course I turned my nose up and said I could never afford it…which in girl code means I am terrified to even try that because then someone will actual be a witness to how far gone I am. She said that she trained with Paul Rosenberg and that he was very reasonable and that he would be able to help me. It took a couple of days but I finally got the courage to call.

Paul was actually not just a trainer but the owner of Real Results Fitness and had several qualified trainers that worked at many locations around town, thus making it impossible for me to say it would be inconvenient. It was time; I was ready to make a change in myself and grab hold of life again, so I signed up and began my journey with Paul and his program.

I jumped in with both feet. I worked hard everyday and made myself and my fitness a priority. I started officially April 2008 weighing in at 193lbs. Today I weigh 135lbs and have not only changed my body but my life as well. I have done things that I never thought possible. I completed a half marathon last December and then my first triathlon this past May. It is truly amazing the life I have gotten back simply by learning and living the Real Results program.

Paul taught me how to schedule time to make food that was tasty and healthy. He showed me how to hold myself accountable with a daily food and workout journals. The following post is to inform y’all about Rockin Runners and Las Vegas Track Club. I will be posting events in the “event section” of this site on a regular basis.  The Events drop down bar is found on the “Contact” tab of the Main menu navigation bar of the site.

If the LVTC information is of interest to you, please consider visiting their website or joining the club.  The rates are very reasonable and you will be thrilled about the variety of information and events they provide.

They are established leaders in promoting running and walking in Southern Nevada for more than 38 years. They encourage running and walking as lifetime fitness activities which are fun and rewarding.

Perhaps the best resource for running information is the LVTC club website at www.lvtc.org. There you will find the results of previous races, and you can even track your individual progress by reviewing your own times from all of the races you’ve run!  The web site even includes a message board to allow you to connect with other Track Club members to schedule training runs, plan social events or simply to share opinions about running related events or activities.

The LVTC provides low key, non T shirt races at various sites around the valley on every weekend when no other races have been scheduled.  These low key events help you stay sharp, while providing you with the opportunity to run in areas of town that you wouldn’t ordinarily see.

So whether you’re a serious racer, a recreational runner, or a fitness walker, Real Results strongly suggests you consider joining the LVTC!

Hello all RealResults clients…

It’s that time once again to see how you are progressing with your fitness goals.  Put positive pressure on your self to move closer to your goals or set new ones.

We meet promptly at the LVAC on Maryland Parkway and Karen at the Juice Bar.  Please make sure to be right on time or early.  There may be other people testing with you and we may begin without you if you are late in which case you will need to reschedule.

Instructions for the Session:

  • No caffeine of any kind the day of or the evening prior
  • No exercise the day of the test and do not come in on a full stomach
  • Wear T shirt, shorts, tennis shoes, and no bulky or loose clothing
  • (Women include sport bra and shorts or form fitting pants)
